Prof Ben Shedd, School of Art, Design and Media, Nanyang Technological University, is an Academy Award winning director/ designer/producer/writer and University cinema teacher. Ben shares a Peabody Award for the first years of the long running PBS science series NOVA and received the 1978 Academy Award for Documentary Short Film THE FLIGHT OF THE GOSSAMER CONDOR, about history’s first successful human-powered airplane. Ben has produced and directed 3 IMAXDome documentaries. Prof Ben has taught at his alma mater, the University of Southern California’s School of Cinema/ Television, California Institute of the Arts, University of New Mexico, as Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Computer Science at Princeton University, and as Professor of the Practice at Boise State University. His Exploding the Frame research focuses on making images and sequences in the frameless visual space of dome screens and VR.
