Born and raised in Werne, Germany. Masters in psychology/ sociology at University Dortmund. Composition studies with Nicolaus A. Huber and Dirk Reith at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen. Collaboration with choreographer Susanne Linke and the Nederlands Dans Theater for “Ruhrort” with his work “Riti Contour” for orchestra. International Performances at GRM, Paris at ICMC’s in San Jose, Tokyo, Banff, Thessaloniki. Visiting scholar at CCRMA Stanford University, teaching assistant at the Folkwang Hochschule, TU Berlin, School of Design Karlsruhe, research fellow at Kingston University, lecturer for composition at the Sonic Arts Research Centre Belfast. Since 2003 head of the Institute for Music and Acoustics at ZKM|Karlsruhe and guest professor at School of Design. Member of the „Academy of the arts“ Berlin. Since 2017 Brümmer became a Professor for composition in digital media at the school of Music in Trossingen Germany switching between the ZKM and Trossingen.

Limitations And Features Of Spatial Audio/Visual Systems
Up to now different spatial technologies from wavefield or Klangdom to interactive binaural environments are used either as pure audio systems or in the context of visual environments to display spatial audio. In this talk the limitations of certain technologies are discussed including principles of spatial perception. Finally the approach of ZKMs newest software version of Zirkonium is presented as a case example.
Deconstructing Double District I
2010, Stereoscopic 3D Video with Surround Audio
This work explores slitline visualisation in stereoscopic 3D. Applied to a dancer’s body in motion, the result is a ever evolving abstract shape and 3D volume. The music was created by Ludger Brümmer using a multichannel format adaptable to soundome display environments. In this version it is adapted for a quadraphonic spatial environment.. The project is based on Double District by Saburo Teshigawara with Volker Kuchelmeister, 2008. Performer Saburo Teshigawara and Rihoko Sato.
